Stratigraphy of the main layers in grid squares 29 and 30, on the O-N line. Each square is 1 m wide. Layer 3 This is distinguished from the adjacent layers by a high density of marine shell. Although it was not consistent over the whole of the excavated area, the density of shell in this layer almost qualifies it to be called a shell-midden deposit. Layer 3 was not recognized in squares P 27-28 and may thus be a localized feature. The volume excavated was calculated as 0,25 Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original South African Museum.
