The portion of the curve which lies dorsally and to the left is destined to give rise to both atria, the portion which passes from right to left represents the future left ventricle, while the succeeding portion represents the right ventricle. In later stages (Fig. 138) the left ventricular portion drops downward in front of the atrial.
