As soon as he came backfrom the front he began the study of medicine in the office of Drs. R. and L. H. Kennedy at Belleville and later enrolled as a student inRush Medical College of Chicago. He was compelled to borrow the moneywith which to pay his school expenses, and for this he paid twelve per cent,compound interest.
