Secondary liver cancer surgery. Surgeon using an electrocautery (instrument that burns through tissue, blue) to cut open the abdomen of patient being operated on for secondary liver cancer. The skin is being held back by retractors (left) and a patient is using suction to clear blood from the area. The cancer has spread from a primary carcinoma of the colon. The malignant (cancerous) tumours will be located and affected areas of the liver removed.
