- Pennsylvania Railroad Improvements, Brick Arch Viaduct, Liberty Street to Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Wilmington, New Castle County, DE; English: Dallin Aerial Survey photograph of Wilmington. The electrified main line of the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad (Pennsylvania Railroad), later the Northeast Corridor, can be seen making a sweeping curve in the left foreground that carries it into Wilmington Station. The station and attached office building, designed by Frank Furness, are visible in the middle distance just to the right of the station platforms. The main line tracks are carried above street level by the Wilmington Rail Viaduct. From within the curve of the main line on the left to the hammerhead crane on the right are the extensive buildings of the Harlan Plant of Bethlehem Steel, formerly Harlan and Hollingsworth, including a turntable and roundhouse, a drydock, and several cranes. Immediately to the right is the abandoned swing bridge of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's South Side Extension across the Christina River; the swing span is fixed open but the approach trestles have been removed. Industries and rail lines are visible in the Southside district to the right of the Christina; the rail line crossing the Christina by a swing bridge at upper right and traversing the low ground between the Brandywine and the Delaware River is the Shellpot Branch. The factory with smokestacks just to the right of it, in the upper right, is the Delaware Floor Products Company.
