A electric passenger train service operated by Northern from Preston to Liverpool arrives under the road bridge to stop at the platform at Euxton Balshaw Lane station at near Leyland in Lancashire. The service the train forms is the service from Preston to Liverpool South Parkway which is working south along the west coast main line. (EMU is short for Electric Multiple Unit, a train consisting of carriages that are linked together but there is no locomotive to provide power for the train. This one picks it’s electricity up from overhead power cables and the electric motors that drive it along are attached to the axles of the wheels under the carriages)
