Benjamin Hurd Jr. Benjamin Hurd Jr. (1778-1818) was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts. His grandfather Jacob Hurd (1702-1758) was a leading silversmith in colonial Boston, and the artist’s father and uncle both followed in the trade.
