Pneumonia. Coloured chest X-ray of a pneumonia infection (orange/red, lower left) in the lower lobe of the patient's right lung. Pneumonia is a bacterial infection. The alveoli (the air sacs of the lungs, too small to be seen) become blocked with pus and solidify. Symptoms include coughing, accompanied by chest pain. Treatment is by the use of antibiotic drugs. The heart (red) lies between the two lungs. The shoulder bones (green, across top) and rib bones (green, circling the chest) are also seen.
