The effect ofthe gasket and grummets was to practically insulate the section Cfrom the section A and B, and as none of these pipes were in con-tact with the ground, the current was compelled to leave the pipesA and B and travel through the water or along the slimy coatingof oxide on the inside of the pipes around the joint between B andC, in order to continue on its journey. As the current was notleaving C, this pipe was not injured, but the current, in leavingthe inner surfaces of A and B did pit them, as shown in the photo-graph. These
