NAGO CITY, OKINAWA, Japan – Lt. Gen. Lawrence Nicholson, the Okinawa Area Coordinator and the III Marine Expeditionary Force commanding general, greets a local resident while visiting the recovery site of a downed MV-22 Osprey Dec. 19 near Abu, Nago City, Okinawa, Japan. While visiting the site, Nicholson also met with local officials and authorities, Marines and Navy personnel working to recover the aircraft. Nicholson was very thankful for the Japan Coast Guard, Okinawa Prefectural Police, and other Japanese agencies for their critical assistance in the recovery of the crew.
