Opened.—By depressing the lever it draws down the breech-blockfrom its position in rear|of the barrel; the firing-pin as it moves, beingretracted by a shoulder on its side passing through an inclined groovein the frame. Closed.—By reversing the above. Locked.—By the position of the breech-block, which is held in placeby the lever under the action of the lever-spring. Fired.—By a back-action side-lock of the usual pattern. Extraction.—By a bent lever pivoted below the chamber and struckby the downward movement of the breech-block in opening. Ejection.—By accelerating the above by the action of the lever-spring,transmitted through the cam-like head of the lever to the block, and byit to the extractor.
