A kard with a scabbard set with turquoise, Persia/Turkestan, 1st half of the 19th century A sturdy wootz-Damascus blade with a cut back. Chiselled and gold-inlaid Koranic surahs on both sides of the ferrule, on the grip frame, and at the base of the blade. Riveted walrus ivory grip scales with a silver pommel ring and blue glass stones set on the ferrule.
