Theseus fighting the Centaur depicted in the Roman painting on marble from Herculaneum (1-79 AD), now on display in the National Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli) in Naples, Campania, Italy. Theseus grabs the Centaur by the hair in defence of one of the Lapith women attacked by the Centaurs on the wedding of King Pirithous and Hippodamia.
