The Ectoprocta arethe prevailing type. The marinespecies form lace-like mats on sea-weed or stand up as branching, bushycolonies (Fig. 129). Some of thefresh-water forms make loose, antler-like colonies (Fig. 130), while otherslie on the surface of a more or lessspherical mass of jelly which theyhave themselves secreted (Fig. 131). -- Pectinatella maf/nijica,a, dense complex of colonies, growing upona stick.
