Mr. Bissell received a respecta-ble but not thorough academical assiduous application he acquired aknowledge of medicine, and in his earlymanhood came West and located in Mon-roe County, this State, where he engaged in thepractice of that profession. But he was not enam-ored of his calling: he was swayed by a broaderambitiori, to such an extent that the mysteries of thehealing art and its arduous duties failed to yield himfurther any charms.
