Hard rock carved by abrasion is exposed in front of the mouth of Franz Josef Glacier in the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
Franz Josef Glacier is running from the Southern Alps towering more than 3000 meters above the Tasman sea towards the coastline down to the rainforest zone. Retreating since more than a decade a lot of glacial tilt and also hard rock carved by abrasion is exposed in front of the glacial mouth.
