From and after the com-pletion of the purchase the Counciland the company are to have reciprocalrunning powers over the lines of theother, and the present arrangement be-tween the company and the railway forthrough bookings at Shepherds Bushand Hammersmith are to be continuedby the company until the completion ofthe Local TransportationProvision Bill Before the House Would Provide$50,000,000 for Housing andLocal Transportation The committee on public buildingsand grounds has favorably reported tothe House of Representatives a billauthorizing the expenditure of $5C,-000,000, through the Secretary of La-bor for the purpose of providing hous-ing, local transportation and othercommunity facilities for war needs. Ifthe bill passes Congress, as it is ex-pected it will, in view of the fact thatit is an administration measure, thenecessary money must be appropriatedin an appropriation bill, following thepassage of an authorization. The report on the bill calls attentionto the fact that it gives to the Sec-retary of Labor the power to acquireby purchase or otherwise such localtransportation and other communityfacilities, or parts thereof, and equip-ment, as in his judgment may becomenecessary for the proper execution ofthe trust created.
