Behind the scenes at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London

DNA fingerprint A worker collects samples from the DNA store in the Jodrell laboratory. The DNA bank currently contains over 36,000 samples of plant genomic DNA, all stored at -80 °C. They are stored with information on the plant's names, collectors, localities and so on. Kew aims to extract DNA from all the plant species grown at the gardens as well as samples collected from expeditions around the world.
