These questions were asked in the official notice sent out by E. K. Kalbfleisch of Sratford, secretary of the Stratford District 0. R. L. D. A., and were discussed, along with a number of others, at a well-attended meeting held at the Mansion House in the Classic City on August 29th. Other subjects discussed were the advisability of establishing a credit bureau, co-operating with the local papers in an endeavor to stimulate structural activity by showing that in the readjustment of prices lumber had already played its part. In spite of this, however, it is still made "the goat" or target by many people, who declare that it is holding them back from going on with the erection of houses. It seems more than passing strange, when once an error gets into the public mind, how long it takes to eradicate it. Lumber during the past year has deflated in price from 25 to 50 per cent., and in some instances more, while cement, hardware, brick, plumbing and other lines have come down very little. Labor is also holding out in most cases for practically pre-war wages, and, in spite of all this, time and again the charge is hurled that lumber is respon- sible for the delay or comparative stagnation in home building. The Stratford Association members do not intend, so far as their influence may be felt, to let any such allegation as this go abroad un- challenged, and the members are co-operating with the weekly and daily press in showing t
