Gelada baboon (Theropithecus gelada) female eating the umbilical cord of its newborn. This primate inhabits the grassland areas of the highlands in Eritrea and Ethiopia. Males lead small troops consisting of females and their offspring. The gelada feeds mainly on grass (a graminivore), the only primate to do so. Photographed in Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia.
