The house that moved, (more properly known as Merchant House) on the corner of Edmund Street and Frog Street, Exeter, Devon, England. With St. Mary's Steps Chruch to the right. Many assume the house that moved is so called because of the way the upper floors lean outward. Not so; the entire house was actually moved in December 1961, to accommodate the new inner city bypass (Western Way). The house, one of the oldest in the city and dating from the 14th century, was moved 70 metres on rollers to its current position. St Mary Steps Church is also a famous landmark within Exeter, the original church believed to date from around 1150.
