Huge numbers of Saoviet prisoners of war were taken during the first few months of Operation Barbarossa. The Nazis systematically starved and neglected Russian prisoners of war as they were considered Slavic sub-humans. En estimated three millions soviet prisoners died in captivity, many in makeshift camps like this. There are no buildings or shelter of any kind and the men died fromexposure ans starvation. Photo
