Prof. Michael Green (born 1946), English theoret- ical physicist & co-author of superstring theory. Green, seen in his office at Queen Mary College, University of London, developed superstring theory from 1979 in collaboration with John Schwarz of Caltech in the US; publication of their ideas in 1984 led to intense excitement in the theoretical physics community. Superstring theory is a \theory of everything\" (or TOE) which includes gravity as well as the other fundamental forces. The theory states that fundamental particles (quarks, electr- ons) are not points of energy/matter, but result instead from the vibrations of miniscule \"string- like\" entities.
