They had four children:— Mary,* theeldest, died in 1903 at Seville, Spain; Helen* died Aug. 7,1912; William Alexander* died in 1862, unmarried; Caro-line* resides 1406 M. St., N. W., Washington, D. C, un-married. Prof. Henry spent his boyhood in Albany and inGalway, Saratoga Co., N. Y. He became Professor ofMathematics in Albany Academy in 1826; Professor of (128). PROF. He received thehonorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Union College in1829, and from Harvard University in 1851. He wasPresident of the American Association for the Advancementof Science in 1849; was chosen President of the U. Academy of Sciences in 1868; President of thePhilosophical Society of Washington in 1871; and chair-man of the Lighthouse Board of the United States in thesame year; the last three positions he continued to filluntil his death.
