Guides are easily obtained in all this immensepreserve, and are reliable men, who add much to the pleasure of theouting, relieving the sportsman of all care of the camp and equipage, aswell as pointing out to their patron the favorite haunts of game. Muchthe same aspect of country is presented from Bathurst northward, except-ing that in all the distance one obtains amphibious glances of the sea as. the rails skirt the shore of the great Baie Des Chaleurs. This far northerninlet from the Gulf of St. Lawrence is ninety miles long, from fifteen totwenty miles broad, and bears neither rock nor hindrance to the safepassage of the largest ships. It presents a famous yachting course, andis renowned for its salt water fishing; all of the numerous rivers whichflow into the bay are good fishing streams; sea trout abound in theestuaries and brook trout in the waters above The Restigouche andMetapedia.
