Marines in Martial Arts Instructor (MAI) course 170-21 execute various Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) techniques at Camp Elmore, Norfolk, Virginia, May 18, 2021. The Marine Corps created and has been training Marines in a unique martial arts fighting style, known as MCMAP, since 2001. MCMAP is a specialized combat martial art that combines hand-to-hand combat, close quarters combat, unarmed combat, and various forms of armed combat.
