Dreer, largely made up of highly colored crotons, with berried plants and ferns, was well grown and well arranged. Philip Freud has evidently decided that a sunken garden is best for the Michell exhibit, for he has repeated and improved upon last year's display. The improvement consists in a central bed of chrysanthemums, in planting the sunk beds in solid colors of pompons, and in the use of evergreens. The grass is, of course, good. The railing and the Geisha girls add a realistic touch to the scene. T. Newton Kulp has his much adver- tised 600-bloom specimen chrysanthe- mum plant on display. It is a marvel, even should the number of blooms have grown in the telling. Chrysanthemums, one bloom to a pot, were well done in well known standard varieties. Standard plants of heliotrope covered with flowers were much ad- mired. Their fragrance was, of course, their special attraction. The cut chrysanthemums—Japanese, single, semi-double, cap and pompon— filled the lobby. All were well done. The table decorations upstairs are be- ing arranged. One has a center of Ophelia roses, with sweet peas, on- cidiums and Bouvardia Humboldtii. The delicate tints harmonized with the dainty silverware. Near by is a richer combination, of Hadley, Pilgrim and Butterfly roses, while further on is an economy table decoration, with the cost of each article itemized, total $ The Meehan gardens are complete. Everything from cottage to croquet set is there, and all true to reality. The exhibits of outdoor pompons and bittersweets are little less striking, but not less interesting.
