You can imagine, therefore, the mid- summer conditions of the entire week. The present one begins with accumula- tions in all lines, and, apart from the weddings, there is nothing on which to build any uplift or improvement, un- less it be the lower temperature, the 95- degree heat having been sidetracked during the closing days of May. Memorial day, as usual, proved a har- vest for all the florists located near the cemeteries, but in the city itself there was no evidence of any unusual de- mand. Shipments to out-of-town flo- rists were limited, and of every variety of flower there was "enough and to spare.'' Enormous shipments of roses have been arriving; most of them have sold, in all sizes, at $10 per thousand, just as they arrive in the shippers' boxes. Only a few American Beauties touched $15 per hundred. Jacqueminot will be in this week. A few Brunners are still arriving, and of tea roses, especially Killarney, there seems to be no limit. It was lamentable to note the depres- sion in the carnation values. Few in- .deed, even of the selected Wards and whites, brought over $ per hundred, and even these were offered Saturday as low as $10 per thousand.
