There are 432 Buddha statues at Borobudur

Borobudur has many statues of Buddhas. There are 432 Buddha statues at the Rupadhatu terrace and at the Arupadhatu terrace. Buddha statues are placed inside perforated stupas. Of the original five hundred and four Buddha statues over three hundred are damaged or headless, and forty-three are missing, stolen as collector's items, or western museums. There is a subtle difference between the Buddhas especially with regards to the position of the hands. Each position r has its own symbolism.
