The quality isbelow the Denver median in Grades 6 and 8. The uneven characterof the curves shows need for careful supervision. No more stress was laid upon the desirability of improving thewriting than is indicated in bulletin numbered seventy-eight, andno increase was made in amount of time given to handwriting be-tween the time of the two tests. The improvement in scores as shownby tables and graphs relating to the second test is partially due tothe changed attitude of the pupils, and the greater precision withwhich the second test was given, as a result of the experience of the Denver Public Schools 9* first one. A large share of the improvement must, however, be dueto the critical attitude of teacher and pupils aroused by the first testtoward results of instruction and intelligent pra
