Guthrie & Steele. PAUL CRAVATH, Lawyer, wasborn in Berlin Heights, Ohio, July 14, 1861,son of Erastus Milo and Ruthana (Jackson) Cravath. Steele. He is a member of the University andUnion League Clubs, the New England and OhioSocieties and the Republican Club, although he hasnever taken an active interest in politics. He mar-ried, November 13, 1893, Agnes Huntington, andthey have one child: Vera Agnes D. Through his father he is descended from an old Mas-sachusetts family, and his mothers ancestors, whowere Quakers, have resided in Chester county,Pennsylvania, for eight generations. He receivedhis early education in the Brooklyn Polytechnic In-stitute, then studied abroad for two years, and onhis return to this country entered Oberlin College,graduating in 1882 and subsequently receiving thedegree of Master of Arts from the same was graduated from Columbia Law School in1886 with the degree of Bachelor of Laws, c/niilaude, took the first municipal law prize and theprize instructorship for that year.
