The church was dedicated in 1124, as a Castorstone informs us which is built into the south wall of thechanceP. It resembles the later work in the upper storeysof the steeples of S. Etienne at Caen (^sup. p. 154, PlateCXXVII) and that at S. Michel des Vaucelles (PlateCXXVIII) and the tower of the south-east transept atCanterbury (Plate CXLI).
