Cracow, Poland: Mourning after polish presidential plane crash


This photo was taken at 18th of April 2010 - a day of polish presidential couple of people were gathering on streets in Cracow to pay last tribute for Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria. The hearses carrying bodies of presidential couple slowly passed through main streets in Cracow, farewelling by crowds of Poles and visitors. Polish Tupolev Tu-154M crashed near Smolensk, Russia, killing all 89 passengers and 7 crew members, including polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife, Commanders-in-Chief of polish Armed Forces, many politicians (members of parliament and senators), vice-speakers of parliament, the national bank governor nad many other notables. They all were flying from Warsaw to participate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. In Poland they were a lot of ceremonies after this tragedy. People were gathering on streets, lighting candles and praying.
