It is one of the most successful schemes in the Palace, whose unity is achieved by a colour scheme which is predominantly red, gold and black, and by the stipulation that the height of main characters in the pictures should not exceed 5'6' in height.' Die Darstellung des Herzogs hier basiert auf einem Doppelporträt von ca. 1515 mit seiner dritten Frau Mary Tudor, der Schwester König Heinrichs VIII, von der sich ebenfalls eine Darstellung im Palast befindet. 1907 wurde ein Komitee zur Fertigstellung des Ostflügels des Westminster-Palast ins Leben gerufen und man entschied sich für die Darstellung historischer Ereignisse der Tudor-Periode.
