Designer baby. Conceptual computer artwork of a human foetus developing in an egg with a bar code on the outside. This could represent a designer baby, which is developing in an egg outside of a mother's uterus (in vitro gestation). A designer baby has its genetic composition decided upon by its parents. It may be endowed with traits that include certain hair or eye colours, high intelligence, increased strength or the removal of genetically inherited diseases. The bar code on the egg could contain information, such as the baby's eventual birth date.
