NYE, Ephraim Hesmer, presidentof the California Mission from 1896to 1901, was born Aug. 6, 1845, inAshford, Kent, England, the son ofJohn Nye and Charlotte Osborne. Hewas baptized in 1857, in England, andcame to Utah in early manhood. Hefilled a mission to Great Britain in BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA 323 1881-1884, labored in the EasternStates Mission, being set apart , 1902, and being released July 3, 1902, to act as president of the South-ern States Mission. He died May 15, 1903, in Columbia, South Carolina,while acting as president of theSouthern States Mission. McMURRIN, Joseph W., presidentof the California Mission from 1919to 1932, died Oct. 24, 1932, in LosAngeles, California. (See Bio. Ency.,Vol. 1, p. 216.)
