Newly picked Discovery apples in an old wicker basket next to the tree in long meadow grass. Discovery is an Essex apple cultivar dating from 1949 bred from Beauty of Bath possibly crossed with Worcester Pearmain by a Mr Dummer of Langham. It is an eating or desert apple which ripens in mid summer and is one of the earliest crops. Image taken in photographer's own Essex garden.
