Flexor muscles of arm. Illustration of the deep flexor muscles of the forearm (antebrachium). The superficial muscles have been cut away. The muscles (red) can be identified at the point where their tendons (white) enter the wrist. From top (in line with the thumb) the tendons belong to the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle which extends the wrist and abducts the hand and the flexor (f.) pollicis longus which flexes the thumb. The next four tendons belong to the f. digitorum profundus which flexes each of the four fingers. The last tendon belongs to the f. carpi ulnaris which flexes & adducts the hand.
