" Catawba—Bunches of good size, rather loose; berries large, round: when fully ripe of a dark copper color, with a sweet, rich, musky flavor. Excellent both for table and wine. Delaware—Bunches small, compact, shouldered: berries rather small, round: skin thin, light red: flesh very juicy, without any hard pulp, with an exceedingly sweet, spicy and delicious flavor. Goethe (Rogers Hybrid No. 1)—A strong, healthy vine, producing large crops of beau- tiful bunches; berries very large, pale red; flesh tender and melting: ripens late; very valuable in the South. For garden culture dig a trench iS inches wide and 12 inches deep, 3 feet apart, fill in some well-rotted manure in bottom of trench: then cover same with fine top soil about two inches.
