A Senior Naval Officer's sabre, France, 2nd half of the 18th century The typical kilij pattern with a balde of watered steel. The obverse side has a gold filled mark, somewhat pitted at the point. Gilded brass hilt, somewhat worn. Knucklebow has bead decoration. The grip plate ends in a helmeted head of Neptune. Grip with copper wire wrapping. Leather scabbard with long locket and chape, each gilded and embossed, slightly worn. Iron drag. Length 99 cm. A fine example of the combination of Orient and Occident in a high quality officer's weapon in beautiful condi,
