Makarios, Archbishop of the St Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos, Greece, 1870s. The St Panteleimon Monastery (Rossikon) is a Russian Orthodox monastery and is the largest of the monasteries on Mount Athos. It was originally founded by monks from Kiev Rus in the 12th century. The current monastery was built in the early 19th century. Found in the collection of the State Museum of History, Moscow.
