Mortimer Mr. James D. Mortimer, vice-president of the NorthAmerican Company, New York, N. Y., and president ofThe Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company, Mil-waukee, Wis., was electedpresident of the NorthAmerican Company onMarch 19, 1914, to succeedMr. James Campbell, whohas been elected chairmanof the board of directors ofthat company. Mr. Morti-mer was born in Elmhurst,111., and was educated atthe Throop Polytechnic In-stitute, Pasadena, Cal., andat the University of Cali-fornia, from which he wasgraduated in 1900. Aftercompleting his collegecourse Mr. Mortimertaught for more than ayear and then entered theservice of the TacomaRailway & Power Company, Tacoma, Wash. When Stone& Webster, Boston, Mass., took over the property of theTacoma Railway & Power Company and the Puget SoundElectric Railway in 1903 Mr. Mortimer was retained asengineer. Mr. Mortimer became identified with the de-velopment of the property of the Telluride Power Com-pany while
