Eussel consented to give his servicesto the expedition, and he rendered valuable I much fear that in after life he must have regrettedthe day he fell in with the British fleet. For after thedeparture of the British army of occupation from SouthAmerica, Russel was imprisoned by the Spaniards for hisshare of the affair, and when he subsequently made hisway to England in the hope of obtaining some recom-pense he found himself disappointed in his left his native island again in a bitter frame of ^-irta^)S!rU:airti
