As a whole, the 1899 eleven was probably the best in the history of the school, andevery member deserves great praise for his share in making the fine record of the team was remarkably evenly balanced, both in ability and weight; a fact which enabledus to develop the excellent team work which was the most marked feature of the style of game which proved most successful was mainly straight foot-ball varied bya few special formation plays. Toward the end of the season an effective interference wasevolved for end runs, which produced greater gains than any other play,
