This species isa southern form, moresmooth and less globularthan the last, and is easilyidentified by the thick,heavy patch of enamel which extends down thecolumella, and nearly or quite fills the shell is very solid and strong. In color itvaries between brown and white. Its averagelength is perhaps two inches, though many speci-mens are smaller. The large operculum is thinand horn-like, without any trace of solid shell. Ndfica dciusa, Brod. and Sby., the Closed Natica,is found in British Columbia and northern watersgenerally. It resembles Figure 247, but is easilydistinguished by its closed umbilicus and its Fig. 24S
