PAPER STOCK CO. Chicago, ilunois FORT WAYNE, IND. The Market. The continued cool weather of last Avook stimulated both the demand and the quality of the supply. Although funeral work was most prominent, there was a good demand for wedding flowers for this season of the year, and an ex- cellent counter trade. In cut flowers, gladioli and asters predominated, al- though there are some good quality roses arriving on the market, cut from the young stock. Prices on these are not high, however, on account of the short- ness of the stems. Gladioli are slightly declining in quantity, but some flowers of splendid quality arc being offered. In asters, Comet is of unusually large size, but the general run of the asters is not as good as other years, on ac- count of the dry weather earlier in the season. No carnations are offered as yet. Outdoor snapdragons are more plentiful and of good quality. Golden Glow and hydrangeas are on the mar- ket in large quantities. Dahlias are not plentiful as yet. Rubrum lilies, aura- tums and a few day lilies are being shown. Phlox and tuberoses are also offered. Smaller flowers, such as daisies, gypsophila, calendulas, cornflowers, del- phiniums, etc., are fairly plentiful. Orchids are off crop. The scarcity of lily of the valley causes a greater de- mand for swainsona, which is fast be- coming a popular wedding flower. A few chrysanthemums, the first of the season, are offered, but they are small and high in price. Statice is hero. The supply of greens is adequate, with the exception of smilax. Various Notes.
