Mention The Review when yon write. mand. Carnations, of a good quality, are finding a ready sale. Hitchings & Co., Elizabeth, N. J., have just completed a greenhouse, 25x75 feet, with equipment, for the Van Laar Co., on Blue Hills avenue. This firm will give up its old place, on Blue Hills avenue, near Scott's Nurseries, and will make a specialty of perennials at the new location. The demand for the well grown plants of this firm has been heavy this last season, and upwards of 10,000 were disposed of. The new location will enable the firm to increase its jiroduction. Mr. Van Laar, the grower here, was formerly in the peren- nial ])lant department of A. N. Pier- son, Inc., Cromwell, Conn. Associated with him is W. N. Bester. Mias Gladj-s J. Rugg, of Simsbury, Conn., was a recent visitor, purchasing bulbs. At the I'helpscroft Conserva- tories, which she recently acquired, veg- etable plants and annuals will be grown for the trade this s])ring. Potted plants sold well here during the holidays, with a heavy demand. Carnations are a good crop here and find a ready sale. Al Linder, at the Cedar Hill Green- houses, sold out everything in plants for the holidays, excejit a few cherries.
