Woman in the costume of Rolleville, drawn at le Havre. She wears an elaborate tall bavolet hat of folded lace, with pleated lace ruff decorations on her shoulders, cuffs and the bottom of her dress. Lante reveals it is already very rare to find women in such costumes in 1827. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
