Cat Shaft Chimney, Hurst Lead Mines, Hurst, North Yorkshire, 1967. A view from the south showing the square chimney built to serve a steam pumping and winding engine installed in the Cat Shaft of the Hurst Lead Mines. The mine dates from the 19th century but it is thought lead was mined at Hurst as early as Roman times.
