Upper tier of Katoomba Falls, Blue Mountains, New South Wales.

The mist from the towering waterfalls create unique rare plants clinging to the sheer rock walls. The Blue Mountains are a favourite weekend getaway for Sydney residents with the sandstone plateaus reaching heights of 1000m above sea level. Hidden valleys and narrow gorges contain remnant Gondwana rainforest and the subset national park is World Heritage listed. "Blue" refers to the tinge the range takes on when viewed from a distance, thought to be caused by vaporising eucalyptus oil from the dense forests.
